Remnant Revelations: "God Has No Limits"

March 1, 2017

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." (Mark 10:27 KJV)

Have you ever tried to thread a needle when sewing? First, you moisten the end of the thread with your lips, and twist to make it as pointy as possible. Then you close one eye, squint with the other and attempt to jab it through the tiny eyelet only to miss by a hair's width. After four or five failed attempts you put on your glasses and try again. A few more tries and you are finally successful. You pull the thread through enough to assure it doesn't slip out again and begin to dance your happy dance. (My wife says no one else ever does that -- but you get the point.)

Now imagine trying to squeeze a caterpillar through that tiny hole -- or a mouse. (Imagine it -- don't try it!) It can't be done. To you and I it would be considered impossible. So when Jesus told His disciples that it would be "easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Mark 10:25,) it seemed even    more impossible. They judged the Lord's words by their own limitations. Therefore they automatically thought He was saying no rich man would ever make it in. But Christ assured them that God has no limits placed on Him. If a camel needs to be put through a needle's eye -- He can do it. If a rich man is willing to humble himself and let God save him -- He can do that too. But if a man tries to do either of these things under his own power -- he will fail.

Holy scripture is full of examples of how our mighty Creator is not limited by the laws that limit man. Science has often preached that matter cannot be made from nothing. Yet, Hebrews 11:3  tells us that "...the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

It is also known that man has never been able to create life. He can duplicate some forms of life or cause it to grow outside of its natural settings, but cannot make something or somebody that has no life -- live. But in the very beginning of our Bibles we read in Genesis 2:7 that "...the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

With all of the advances in DNA mapping, scientists can now clone rats, sheep, and even some say -- people. But, with all of the knowledge they have accumulated over the last hundred years, they could never take the DNA of a man and make a woman. God can! Genesis 2:22 says, "And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman..."

As believers we should never limit God. Nothing is impossible for Him. When we hear ourselves begin to say things like, I can't quit smoking, I'll never be able to get a job, I can't change my personality, etc., we just need to remember that only our lack of faith in His abilities can limit His work in our lives: Matthew 13:58 -- "... he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief."  None of these things are impossible -- for Him. With man they may be impossible, but not for the Almighty God.

Our God caused a baby to be born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23,) turned water into wine (John 2:7-9,) provided tax money in a fishes mouth (Matthew 17:27,) provided water from a rock in the middle of a desert to more than a million people (Exodus 17:6,) and caused a donkey to speak (Numbers 22:27-28.) If He can do these impossible things (and much more,) do you really think anything that you need help with is too hard for Him.

Don't limit our Creator -- trust Him.
